WHAT: New Jersey Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker tells AP Ground Game: Election 2020 podcast host Julie Pace the Senate impeachment trial could be a “big, big blow” to his presidential campaign. Booker says the trial and other issues in Washington could leave him in limbo, keeping him away from the critical Iowa caucuses on February 3. Click here for more information on this breaking story.
WHO: Cory Booker is one of five senators vying for the Democratic nomination who may be marooned in Washington as a juror in President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial — instead of being in Iowa for the important, first-in-the-nation caucus. Despite drawing good-sized crowds in early voting states, Booker has struggled with fundraising and to break into the top tier of candidates in the polls. With less than a month until the Iowa caucuses, time may be running out for his campaign. Booker stopped by for an interview with Julie Pace on Ground Game to explain why he says he's “in this to win it.”
