Dr. Joy Harden is an Atlanta-based psychologist and the host of the podcast, “Therapy for Black Girls.” She said that, According to the Minority Health Office, African Americans are 10 percent more likely to disclose serious mental health issues than their white counterparts. People may not even consider therapists who look like them or share their experiences when people have the ability to seek professional help.
Black Girls podcast therapy promotes African American women’s mental and emotional well-being. It provides resources on subjects such as anxiety, body image, and perfectionism. The podcast is hosted by Joy Harden, a psychologist based in Atlanta. She joined On Second Thought to speak about her research and the evolution of the show since 2017.
